Axis Bank Q2 profit up 18 per cent at Rs 1,610 crore

Private sector lender Axis Bank today reported 18.2 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 1,610.71 crore for the second quarter ended September 2014-15.

The bank's net profit in the same quarter a year ago stood at Rs 1,362.31 crore.

Total income of the bank rose to Rs 10,549.97 crore during the July-September quarter of current fiscal, up from Rs 9,375.08 crore, it said in a filing to the BSE.

Bank's net non-performing assets (NPAs) or bad loans were increased to 0.44 per cent during the quarter, over 0.37 per cent in the corresponding period a year ago.

Gross NPAs were however trimmed to 1.34 per cent in the second quarter, over 1.19 per cent a year earlier.
 

Shares of Axis Bank settled 2.04 per cent higher at Rs 401.95 apiece on the BSE today.
