'Ayudha Pooja' was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in the city on the ninth day of 'Navaratri' celebrations Thursday with people venerating their tools, implements and vehicles.
Ayudha Pooja, observed as a day of rest for man and his tools, is considered as a prayer to ward off any evil that could cause harm or injury in the coming year.
Special prayers and poojas were held in various shrines where people gathered in large numbers in a festive mood.
Various institutions and business establishments joined the celebrations.
