Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh today inaugurated a first-of-its-kind 'AYUSH Wellness Centre' which will provide alternative medicine treatment to residents of the national capital.

Singh said the centre set up by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in the diplomatic area of the city is a step towards promoting and popularising Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Homeopathy and Naturopathy. He hoped the ambassadors living in the area would act as brand ambassadors of traditional medicine systems whenever they return to their own country.

"It is the foremost duty and responsibility of the Council to extend better and desired medical facilities to the diplomats," Singh said after inaugurating the Centre at Dharma Marg in Chanakyapuri.

Lauding the efforts of NDMC, Member of Parliament, Meenakashi Lekhi said that the traditional system of medicine in India used an integrated approach of culture, tradition and nature for curing deceases.

"As many 15,000 patients had undergone treatments from the Mandir Marg AYUSH Polyclinic within a period of six months after its inception," she added.

The Centre will provided medical services from Monday to Friday between 8.30 AM to 4 pm. It will be open till 12.30 pm on Saturdays.
