Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad today condemned the killing of two CRPF jawans in Anantnag District in south Kashmir, saying such "mindless and dastardly" acts of terrorist violence have impeded the progress of the state.

Expressing condolences to the bereaved families of CRPF jawans, Azad said "I share the sorrow and pain of those who have lost their loved ones".

"Mindless and dastardly acts of terrorist violence have already impeded the progress of the State to a considerable extent and the persistence of the menace of violence is not going to do any good to the people of the State in future as well," Azad said.

Urging the Central and state governments to take cognisance of the rising graph of militancy-related violence, Azad expressed concern over the sudden spurt in terrorist violence, calling it an ominous portent not be overlooked or ignored.

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Gulam Ahmed Mir has also expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the CRPF jawans and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.

Two CRPF personnel, including an officer, were killed in a militant attack in Sangam area of Anantnag district on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway today.
