Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan has termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "liar" and criticised his Paris visit given the rising number of farmer suicides in the country.

"He (Modi) is a king who lies. Farmers are dying in the country and he is touring Paris. He has failed to fulfil his promises," Khan said last evening.

He also slammed the media and said that it can go to any extent for financial gains.

Mentioning the Badaun case, where bodies of two girls were found hanging from a tree, Khan said that due to false media reports, the country's name was maligned globally.

"A fake news has made India a country of rapists. Even UN had taken a note of the incident and image of the country was maligned," he said.

He also said that the kind of freedom enjoyed by the Indian media is found nowhere else in the world.
