Rapper Azealia Banks has quit social media because she doesn't want to be "monitored" and told how to behave.

Banks, 24, took to Facebook to announce that she has decided to stop sharing her thoughts online because she doesn't want her "legacy to die on the internet", reported Femalefirst.

The "212" hitmaker, who was banned from Twitter following a racist and homophobic rant directed at Zayn Malik earlier this year, wrote: "I'm seriously tired of peoples feelings. I'm tired of seeing their overly sensitive reactions and responses to everything. I'm tired of having everything I say or do be monitored and I'm tired of being told how I should be behaving.

"I'm quitting Facebook, and any other form of social media that allows me to engage with people. My legacy can't live and die on the Internet. Goodbye. For good (sic)."

The "Big Big Beat" star had her Twitter account suspended and was dropped from appearing at a London festival after she launched a vile racist and homophobic rant on Malik and felt she was being "shoved into a corner and punished" for her actions.

Malik is not the only celebrity to be subjected to Banks' acid tongue.

She previously launched a Twitter tirade on fellow rapper Iggy Azalea. Most recently Azealia accused Taylor Swift and Lady GaGa of stealing her ideas.
