An Azerbaijani woman has been arrested by customs officials for allegedly trying to smuggle out foreign currency worth over Rs 33 lakh at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here.
The accused, aged about 40, was intercepted when she was proceeding to board a flight to Istanbul on Monday, a release issued by the customs said.
Foreign currencies -- Euro and British Pound -- worth Rs 33.5 lakh were recovered from her possession, it said.
The passenger, a native of Azerbaijan, was arrested and the forex seized, it said.
