Pakistan Prime Minister's Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz is likely to travel to India on August 23 for a meeting between the National Security Advisors of the two countries.

"The visit so far is on. Let us see what it leads to," government sources here said.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi had decided during a meeting in Ufa, Russia, last month that their National Security Advisors will meet.

India has proposed August 23 and 24 for the meeting between Aziz and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

However, Pakistan has not yet confirmed the proposed dates for the meeting and the agenda of the planned talks has also not been fixed yet.

During the meeting, the National Security Advisers are expected to discuss the Gurdaspur terror attack, bail for Mumbai terror attack mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and other security issues of mutual concern.

Despite the two premiers agreeing to re-start talks on bilateral issues during their meeting in Ufa, the recent Gurdaspur terror attack has increased tension between the two countries.
