B-town celebs hail Sania Mirza's number 1 world ranking

Mirza became the first female tennis player from India to achieve this distictio in doubles after she and Hingis won the title at the WTA Family Circle Cup

Several Bollywood celebrities including Farhan Akhtar, Farah Khan, Riteish Deshmukh congratulated Sania Mirza for creating history by becoming the first female tennis player from India to achieve the world number one rank in doubles.

Mirza won the title at the WTA Family Circle Cup with partner Martina Hingis, in Charleston, USA.

It was Mirza's third successive title win with Hingis and they have not lost as a single match since joining forces in March. They won trophy in Indian Wells, which was their first tournament together and followed that up with win in Miami.

"@MirzaSania Congratulations on achieving the No 1 spot. And to @mhingis. You're an inspiration for girls to follow their dreams. @UN_Women," Akhtar posted.
 
Filmmaker Farah Khan tweeted, "What great news to get 1st thing in the morning! @MirzaSania way to go baby."

Calling Mirza 'the pride of India, Deshmukh wrote, "Pride of India - world No1 @MirzaSania - huge achievement-big congratulations my friend - hugs."

"@MirzaSania how's the view from the top? Number 1 and killing it.. More power to you," actor Arjun Kapoor tweeted.

Shraddha Kapoor congratulated Mirza, saying, "World number one! Congratulations @MirzaSania! #ProudMomentForIndia #HeadsUp."

Huma Qureshi, said, "So proud @MirzaSania #GoGirl."

"@MirzaSania Congratulations. So truly well deserved. Phenomenal grit, commitment and belief. This is legendary.. So very happy for you," actor R Madhavan posted on twitter.
