B-Town hails PM Modi's step to abolish Rs 500,Rs 1000 currency

Celebrities like Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap among others have praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to abolish Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency in war against black money.

In his first televised address to the nation, two-and-a- half-years after assuming office, the PM declared a "decisive" war against black money and corruption with abolishing high denomination currency being a part of it.

"Hats off @narendramodi ji. New India is born #JaiHind," Rajinikanth tweeted.

Megastar Bachchan wrote, "The new 2000 Rs note is PINK in colour...The PINK effect!!!"

Kashyap, who tweeted to Modi amid the controversy surrounding ban on the release of films with Pakistani artistes, also hailed the step taken by the PM.
 

"Ballsiest move I have ever seen from any leader.. It will cause a lot of heart ache but Kudos..Super way to make the black money redundant."

Madhur Bhandarkar wrote, ""Congratulations to @PMOIndia @narendramodi for this bold move to ban 500 and 1000 notes to counter #BlackMoney and strengthen our economy."

"A welcome bold&courageous step by PM Modiji towards nation building. Each one of us shld cooperate in d larger interest of d nation #BlackMoney," Anushka Sharma tweeted.

Southern superstars Kamal Haasan and Nagarjuna thanked the PM for rewarding the tax payers.

"Tweeting frm Paris/congrats @narendramodi Ji!!for rewarding us tax payers/india on the way to become a super economy #IndiaFightsCorruption," Nagarjune wrote.

"Salute Mr Modi. This move has to be celebrated across political party lines. Most importantly by earnest tax payers," Haasan tweeted.

Johar called the step a 'masterstroke,' "This is truly a masterstroke move!!!! @narendramodi hits it out of the stadium!!!!"

Rishi Kapoor tweeted, "PM Modi ji. Ball out of the stadium. Wohaaaaaa!!!! De monetisation is the right answer. Congratulations!"

Actress Bhumi Pednekar termed the decision brilliant.

"Brilliant brilliant brilliant @PMOIndia ,let's break corruption bit by bit . No more Kala dhan or Mann #500And1000rupee," she wrote.

Suniel Shetty tweeted, "9/11 jab bhi aata hai hila dalta hai bhai...This 9/11 some will lose...
Riteish Deshmukh said it is a bold move.

"Bold move by PM @narendramodi ji as the #1000rs #500rs notes become invalid/redundant. #NewIndia" he wrote.

Actor Arjun Kapoor praised the step, but feels a lot more is to be done to control the black money.

"The timing of the PM is interesting but the question is what will the government provide back to its fair & honest citizens after all this ?

Reducing black money is much needed but eventually we need better infrastructure & way more inroads in other aspects not only money matters," he wrote.

The actor said he hopes everyone will come together to work against the menace.

"Hoping we can all work in harmony to see out this change & it pays dividends to each & every citizen in the future. No more #BlackMoney !!!"

Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma said he is proud of the decision.

"Have never seen such long lines in front of ATM machines before... We are very proud of u sir @narendramodi #saynotoblackmoney,"

Actress Sonali Bendre Behl tweeted, "Couldn't agree more!!! Historical move @narendramodi @PMOIndia it's a beginning of new India...Jai Hind"

"Neerja" producer Atul Kasbekar tweeted, "And a word of praise for the brilliant move from PM @narendramodi The gentleman takes the hard calls that need to be implemented."

Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar praised the decision with a funny twist.

"Today my daughter running the house as she owns all the smaller notes in her piggy bank. One little piggy bank has made us all redundant.

"Today husbands are begging their wives to give all the smaller notes that they have secretly saved for years," he wrote.

Signer Kailash Kher tweeted, "This is a historical day in the history of mankind. Our Nation Bharat will soon be at par with developed countries @narendramodi GodBlessYou".

Randeep Hooda wrote,"A master stroke by our hn'able PM @narendramodi #ModiFightsCorruption #IndiaFightsCorruption @PMOIndia #proud".

"History is made by bold masterstrokes like these. Respect @narendramodi sir May this be a step forward to a corruption free future," Kunal Kemmu wrote.
