Bollywood celebrities including Abhishek Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Hrithik Roshan among others mourned the sudden demise of iconic American singer Prince.
The 57-year-old singer, who was considered music industry's one of the most influential figures, was found dead last evening in Minnesota.
As the news of his death emerged, celebrities took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to pay tribute to the "Purple Rain" hitmaker.
"Prince was one of the greatest musicians of our generation. Rest in peace. #PurpleRain," Abhishek wrote.
Hrithik called him the King of the music world.
"#RIP Prince. You were actually the King. Thank you for being a friend in good and bad times to millions."
Madhuri posted, "A legend is no more. RIP Prince. He has inspired generations of musicians world over. Purple Rain my fav song."
Actress Chitrangda Singh said his death is a loss to the music fraternity.
"his is what it sounds like .. When doves cry ??.. My fav prince song ..Memories .. ! Loss of a legend #RIPPrince."
Prince became an international sensation in the 1980s, when he popularised the Minneapolis sound of danceable funk, incorporating rock elements.
Farah Khan said, "And now the bad news... Prince is no more... His music helped me through many bad times when I was younger.. And even now..."

His 1994 album "Purple Rain" is often described as one of the greatest of all time.
Arshad Warsi said, "First MJ & now Prince. They were my inspiration when I was a Choregrapher. Will miss them and their music.... RIP."
