European childcare provider Babilou today said it has picked up majority stake for an "undisclosed sum" in city-based Amelio Early Education as part of its foray in the Indian market.
Chennai-based Amelio Early Education currently provides child care and has 14 centres in city with 220 employees.
Babilou's ambition is to establish a long-term presence and to rapidly increase the footprint in India through a full expansion, a press release said.

"We will use the knowledge and scale of Babilou's international experience to further expand the market and enhance our offering", she said.
Commenting on the partnership, Babilou Group, Co-Founder, Rodolphe Carle said, "we have been very impressed by the high-quality standards offered by Amerlio's programmes and teams".
