Babus rejig: G C Murmu shifted as Addl Secy Financial Services

Gujarat's bureaucrat Girish Chandra Murmu has been shifted from Finance Ministry's Expenditure department to Financial Services as part of senior level bureaucratic reshuffle effected today.

Murmu is among seven Additional Secretary-level officers who have been appointed to central government ministries. Of the total officers, only one belongs to Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) and rest are from Indian Administrative Service.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the appointment of Murmu, a 1985 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, as Additional Secretary in Department of Financial Services, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.

He is presently working in Department of Expenditure in the same position. Murmu has worked as Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he was Gujarat's Chief Minister.
 

Murmu's batchmate U P Singh has been moved from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry to Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Ministry as Additional Secretary.

Singh has been appointed in place of Nikhilesh Jha, who will now be Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser in Department of Food and Public Distribution, it said.

Senior IAS officer Rajani Ranjan Rashmi has been shifted from Ministry of Commerce and Industry to Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Besides him, Amita Prasad has also been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Environment Ministry. Prasad is presently Joint Secretary in Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.

Shalini Prasad, who is presently working in her cadre state Uttar Pradesh, will be new Additional Secretary in Power Ministry.

Madhulika P Sukul, an IDAS officer of 1982 batch, has been appointed as Additional Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs.
