Baby boy burnt to death

Charred body of a baby boy was

today recovered from inside a small tile-roofed house in Behala area of city.

According to a senior officer of Kolkata Police, body of four-year-old Kaustav Roy was recovered from his home on Bamacharan Roy Road in Behala Police station limits this morning.

The incident happened at around 8.15AM when neighbours alerted local police seeing heavy smoke coming out of the windows of the said house inside which the baby was sleeping alone, he said.

The boy's father Biswanath Roy, a lorry driver, and mother, who works as a domestic help, were out on work at the time of mishap, he said.
 

The boy when taken to the nearby Vidyasagar Hospital was declared brought dead.

Two fire tenders managed to douse the flame after an hourlong fight at 9.15am, he said adding that the cause of the fire could be electric short circuit.
