Baby elephant rescued, taken to local zoo

A roaming baby elephant, having strayed from its habitat, was today rescued at Bakhra forest in West Midnapore district.

The 3-year old jumbo about 5.5 ft in height, was brought to the Jhargram Mini Zoo after being sedated by tranquiliser and was now okay, Divisional Forest Officer (Jhargram) Rabindranath Sau said.
