Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today directed Principal Secretary Home to ensure that judicial probe into the Jeobala incident of Tarn Tarn is completed within the stipulated period of three months.

The probe was ordered to ascertain facts leading to the death of ASI Kulbir Singh during a farmers' agitation at Jeobala village recently.

An assurance to this effect was given by Badal to the delegation of Kisan Sangrash Committee Punjab led by its state president Satnam Singh Pannu in a meeting held here today, a spokesman said.

The Chief Minister also asked the state DGP to sympathetically examine all cases in which several representatives of unions participated in the statewide rail and road blockades in support of their agitation.

Badal asked officials to ensure that compensation payment of Rs five lakh each to the next of kin of two farmers who died in the agitations, be released immediately.

The Chief Minister also directed the Financial Commissioner (Development) to work out modalities to bring a legislation aimed at abolishing money lending in the state and to safeguard interests of the farming community.

Referring to another demand raised by the union regarding allotment of tube well connections, Badal apprised them that the state government had already framed a new tube well policy to release 25,000 tube well connections soon.
