Badal pitting religious leaders against each other: Amarinder

Press Trust of India Chandigarh
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief Amarinder Singh today accused Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal of pitting Sikh religious leaders against each other as part of his agenda of "controlled destabilisation" in the state.

"While the old wounds of desecration of holy Guru Granth Sahib at Bargadi were yet to heal, he has masterminded yet another plot, this time by putting one group of religious leaders against the other," he said in a statement here.

He accused Badal of "patronising" one religious group and expressing "sympathies" with the other at the same time.

"This is part of his same old game and nefarious design aimed at controlled destabilisation to create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among people with an eye on forthcoming Assembly elections in the state," he said referring to fierce confrontation between two Sikh groups that has already taken one life.
