Seeking to drive a wedge between Punjab's ruling Akali Dal and BJP, state Congress chief Amarinder Singh today said Modi government's "greatest achievement" in two years is that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has been "shown his place".
"Two years have passed since Arun Jaitely became Finance Minister but we are yet to receive the first installment of truckload of money Mr Badal promised Punjabis," Singh said in a statement on the completion of two years of Modi government at the Centre.
"Rather, Punjab has not even been getting the routine cash credit limit on time for payment to farmers for their crops," he alleged.

"We really did not expect much from you but what we are happy about is the way you have made our Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal realise it was actually Congress government led by Dr Manmohan Singh which always cared about Punjab much against his (Badal's) charge that Congress discriminated with the state," he stated.
"Modi isn't prepared to even meet you (Badal), leave aside granting you your wishes," Singh charged, adding, "so, by now Badal must have realised who has humiliated Punjab and who has been anti-Punjab".
He said Badal has been "made to realise" that former prime minister Manmohan Singh and Congress party were "actually the well-wishers of Punjab, and BJP is certainly not".
