Alleging that the Badals are monopolising trade and businesses, Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa today said while the ruling family is becoming richer and the state is getting poorer day by day.

The Badal family has ventured into almost all trades and businesses and is leaving no room for small entrepreneurs, Bajwa said in a statement here.

"They (Badals) have captured the business of real estate, liquor, cable TV services, transport, hospitality and sand mining," he said, adding that common people who want to ventured into these businesses are being terrorised by Badals.

Public facilities like Punjab Roadways and PEPSU Road Transport Corporation are incurring huge losses while the transport business of the Badals is flourishing, Bajwa said.

He said the Orbit Hotels and Leisure Park in Gurgaon owned by Badals was working like money minting machine while the hotel and tourism industry in Punjab was reeling under heavy losses.

In a sarcastic note, Bajwa asked Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to share his secret of multiplying money with the people of Punjab.

The Congress leader alleged that the SAD government is trying to hand over the education and health sectors to private players.

"This is their political agenda not to develop human resources and generate an army of unemployed, frustrated youths to lure them and use them for their benefit," he said.

The SAD-BJP government had failed to provide basic amenities and corruption free and responsive government as they had promised in their election manifesto.

"The way the Badals were ruling Punjab it appears that they are preparing the state to become their colony," he added.
