The mandatory safety clearance by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for opening of the Badarpur-Escorts Mujesar section has been received by the Delhi Metro subject to fulfillment of certain conditions, the DMRC today said.

Once these mandatory stipulations are complied with, the commissioning of passenger services would be permitted, it said in a statement.

The DMRC, however, has not specified the conditions.

The safety inspection of the upcoming Badarpur-Escorts Mujesar (Faridabad) stretch of the Delhi Metro was recently carried out.

Trial runs on this section, whose partial energy requirements would be met by solar power, began in April.

Metro had made its foray into Haryana five years ago and with this project, DMRC will further expand its operations in the neighbouring state.

The 14-km long section is an extension of the ITO- Badarpur line (Line 6) of the network. Once fully operational, it will span from Kashmere Gate to Escorts Mujesar having a length of 43.4 km.

In total, DMRC has so far commissioned solar power facilities with a generation capacity of approximately 2,800 kWp with plants at various stations and depots across its network.
