Baggage loader held at IGIA for smuggling gold

CISF has apprehended a baggage- loader for allegedly conniving with a few others to smuggle 1. 2kg of gold at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here.

Officials said the incident occurred yesterday when Central Industrial Security Force sleuths detected the suspicious movement of the loader employed with a private logistics firm at Terminal-3 of the airport when he was seen meeting a passenger, who arrived from Bahrain, inside two bathrooms of the airport.

The loader has been identified as one Chandan Kumar and 1.2kg gold was recovered from him, they said.

A stolen mobile was also recovered from him, officials said adding the loader's questioning led the authorities to two other people who have been apprehended on charges of receiving the smuggled yellow metal from an overseas destination.
