Acting on the complaint of Mukesh Kumar, secretary of the municipal committee, the case was registered against Verma in connection with a building plan scam that had surfaced some months ago, DSP (Bahadurgarh) Rajeev Deswal said.
"Mukesh Kumar had lodged a complaint against Dharamveer Verma with the police wherein he had charged Verma with misplacing 21 important official files pertaining to building construction and passing 25 suspicious building plans on the basis of forged documents," the DSP said.
The accused has also been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act, Deswal said.
No arrest has been made so far, he said, adding a hunt is on to nab the accused.
