In his message on the eve of World Environment Day, Bahuguna called upon people to extend support to the state government's efforts to protect the environment.
"Unscientific exploitation of natural resources has led to the degradation of environment around the world. Every individual should make a significant contribution in safeguarding the environment," he said.
The Chief Minister also stressed on maintaining balance between development and conservation of the environment.
"Uttarakhand, which is blessed with natural resources, has an important role in environment conservation," he added.
