"The government is in favour of increasing the wages of labourers even at the cost of extra burden on the state exchequer," he said.
At separate functions here, the Chief Minister laid foundation stones of various development projects worth crores of rupees.
He also made a series of announcements including construction of a residential building of the Forest Constable Training Centre at Rampur Mandi at an estimated cost of Rs 495 crore and a water reservoir under the Rajawala Drinking Water Project.
The Chief Minister approved several development projects including construction of overhead water tanks at Laxmipur, Dhakrani, Kedarwala and Sayyad Marg, an official release said.
He also announced construction of a Nagar Panchayat Office, a community hall, a fire station and public toilets at Hurbertpur.
