Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has asked the DGP to probe the charges against Additional Secretary (Home) Janardan Prasad Joshi, accused of raping a woman on the pretext of providing her a job.

"The Director General of Police has been asked to thoroughly probe the charges," Bahuguna said today, asserting that law will take its course and the guilty will be punished.

On Friday, the 29-year-old woman had lodged a complaint in Delhi accusing Joshi, currently serving as Additional Secretary (Home), of sexually assaulting her on the pretext of getting her a job in tourism department.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that Joshi had asked her to come to Nainital, where he raped her at the Police Line Officers' Club. He also threatened to killed her, she alleged.

Meanwhile, Joshi has also filed an FIR against the woman and two others, alleging that they blackmailed and threatened him.

Countering the complaint against him, Joshi lodged an FIR here alleging that since November 16, the woman and her two accomplices have been demanding money and access to confidential papers from him through SMSes, and were threatening to defame him if he did not do so.
