Centuries-old Baijnath Temple in Kangra, which has been declared a protected monument, is in a bad shape with its roof leaking despite High Court's intervention two years ago.
The roof of the Shiva Temple, which was damaged in devastating earthquake in Kangra in April 1905 and later repaired by Raja Sansar Chand of Katoch dynasty, started leaking two year ago but nothing was done to plug the leakages which has increased due to excessive rains this year.
"The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) seems to be in no hurry to take up the restoration work and problem is increasing," says Uma Kant, priest of the temple.
The ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is built in the Nagara style of architecture and is dated to 1204 AD. It is a protected monument maintained by Archeological Survey of India.
