An FIR against Shakir Ali and his supporters was lodged by the Railway Protection Force under Sections 145 (endangering safety) and 153 (creating nuisance) of the Railway Act.

ACJM (Northeast Railway) SP Singh upheld the legislator's bail application.

Ali was granted bail after executing a personal bond for Rs 25,000 with two sureties for a like sum.

Ali surrendered before the local court after he had moved the High Court for expeditious hearing in the case.

On April 1, scores of people reached Deoria railway station to welcome Shakir Ali. The supporters had brought with them a horse at the station and asked the MLA to ride the horse. Ali mounted the horse and while coming out of the station, some of his supporters misbehaved with passengers.

Ali alleged it was a planned move by rivals to bring a horse on the platform.

Neither the GRP staff nor the RPF personnel did not care to stop the horse from entering the platform, the legislator said. PTI Corr KAS
