Bajaj Auto and its Austrian partner KTM AG are extending their partnership to Indonesia for selling Duke and RC brands of motorcycles of up to 400cc.

The arrangement involves KTM-branded Duke and RC motorcycles up to a displacement of 400cc being distributed through a chain of KTM dealerships to be managed by Bajaj, the two companies said in a statement.

KTM AG CSO Hubert Trunkenpolz said: "The decision to emphasise our sales activities in South-East Asian distribution network is the logical next step in our long term oriented strategy.

"It supports our presence in the price sensitive Indonesian market by using our synergies from our strong alliance with Bajaj."

"Bajaj has successfully established KTM brand in India with an exclusive channel of KTM stores," said Rakesh Sharma, International Business President at Bajaj Auto.

For Bajaj Auto this agreement to distribute sub 400cc bikes in Indonesia is a major step forward, he added.

The existing business partnership with the current importer P T Jaya Selaras Sejahtera will remain but will now fully focus on model range above 400cc.

Bajaj Auto holds 48 per cent stake in KTM and under their partnership manufactures KTM Duke and RC range of motorcycles at its Chakan plant in Maharashtra.
