Bajaj group synchronises second 660 MW unit at Lalitpur plant

Shishir Bajaj-led Bajaj group today said it has synchronised the second 660 MW unit of its power plant at Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh.

"The Lalitpur Power Generation Co Ltd (LPGCL), which is setting up a 3x660 MW power plant at Lalitpur in Bundelkhand (UP), has successfully synchronised the second unit of 660 MW today," Bajaj group said in a statement.

The first unit of 660 MW was commissioned in September and the third unit of similar capacity is in an advanced stage of completion, it said.

This milestone strengthens the presence of the Bajaj group as a major power producer in Uttar Pradesh (UP) where it already has a presence through its existing 1,100 MW thermal power capacity, the statement added.
 

The Bajaj Group with total revenues of USD 3.25 billion and an assets base of USD 4.4 billion has interests in power, sugar, ethanol, real estate, personal care products and infrastructure.

The group's power venture includes Bajaj Energy Pvt Ltd, with 450 MW thermal power generation commissioned in 2012 and the Lalitpur Power Generation Co Ltd with a total of 1,980 MW thermal power generation capacity.

Bajaj Power Ventures is the holding company of the power business of Bajaj group, which also has 14 sugar plants in UP with a sugarcane crushing capacity of 136,000 TCD (tonnes crushed per day) and a distillery capacity to produce 8 lakh litres of alcohol a day.
