Bajra strengthens on increased offtake

Bajra prices strengthened in an otherwise steady wholesale grains market today on increased offtake by consuming industries amid restricted arrivals from producing region.

Traders said pick up in demand from consuming industries against limited arrivals from belts mainly kept bajra prices higher.

In the national capital, bajra moved up by Rs 50 to Rs 1,290-1,295 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Wheat MP (desi) 2,350-2,700, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,600-1,605, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,610-1,615, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti Bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 850-860 (50 kg), Maida 920-930 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,050-1,060 (50 kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 5,300-5,500, Rice Pusa (1121) 4,100-5,400, Permal raw 1,675-1,725, Permal wand 1,840-1,860, Sela 2,250-2,350 and Rice IR-8 1,600-1,616, Bajra 1,290-1,295, Jowar yellow 1,600-1,700, white 3,000-3,100, Maize 1,450-1,455, Barley 1,310-1,320.
