Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa today demanded "immediate" resignation of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal over the false implication of two brothers in the case of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.

Bajwa has demanded resignation of Badal for allegedly harassing two innocent brothers Rupinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh who were wrongly arrested, a statement quoting him said.

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal even went to the extent of claiming foreign hand in the conspiracy but now the two brothers have been released as there was nothing against them, Bajwa said.

Stating that the Akali government had lost its face and had no right to continue in office, he demanded that Badal must quit immediately, it added.

Brothers Rupinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh of Bargari village, arrested in connection with a recent incident of holy book sacrilege in Faridkot, were released today, with police saying there was not enough evidence against them.
