Describing the "police raid" in the Congress Legislative Party office inside the Assembly premises in search of the Dalit woman who was a victim of Punjab police brutality in Tarn Taran as a "murder of democracy", PCC president Pratap Singh Bajwa strongly condemned the incident.
The raid is black spot on the history of parliamentary democracy, Bajwa told reporters.
The police raid in the CLP office betrayed the anti-Dalit stance of the Akalis, he said, adding that action had been initiated against the guilty officers involved in the incident at Tarn Taran, only after intervention of the Supreme Court.
Instead of taking action against low ranking officers, people at the top should have been taken to task, he stressed.
