Bajwa opposes online lottery

Punjab Congress chief Pratap Singh Bajwa today vehemently opposed state Cabinet's decision to start an online lottery system accusing the Parkash Singh Badal government of promoting social evils like gambling.

"The online lottery is an addiction like drugs and it will spoil the youths," Bajwa said in a statement here.

He said the then Congress government in Punjab had banned the online lottery system keeping in mind its social implications.

"The online lottery has ruined thousands of families in the state. Many other states have banned the online and single digit lotteries", Bajwa said.

The Congress leader slammed the Parkash Singh Badal-led SAD-BJP government alleging it was promoting social evils like gambling.
 

Bajwa said the online lottery would affect the poor and students.

"Promoting gambling is a brainchild of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal who is trying to bring casino culture to the state," he said.

Bajwa also opposed the Punjab Cabinet's decision to impose two per cent stamp duty on power of attorney.

He said this would hamper the growth of real estate sector.
