As the festival season kicks off, most Indians are looking at travelling to Bali in Indonesia, which has topped the list of international destinations, according to a recent survey.

"With a 119.6 per cent annual increase in searches to international destinations, it is evident that Indian travellers are increasingly exploring a variety of places to spend Diwali this year.

"With Bali as the top destination this festive season, we expect to see an increased interest to other parts of Indonesia with the recent free visa facilities for Indian travellers," Skyscanner India Senior Marketing Manager Kavitha Gnanamurthy said quoting the survey.

The rise in searches to overseas flights indicate that Indian travellers are escaping the festival rush and cashing-in on the Diwali break to explore the world, it added.

Bali is followed by Paris, Colombo (Sri Lanka) and Singapore.

The data has been collected following customer internet searches online.

The percentage increase in searches from India to these destinations were performed six months prior to Diwali in 2014 compared to six months prior to Diwali in 2015.
