The bandh had been called to protest against the renaming of the earstwhile North Cachar Hills district as the Dima Hasao Autonomous District.
While vehicular traffic was affected and normal life was disrupted in some parts of the district, no untoward incidents were reported from the district during the bandh period, local officials said.
The state goverment had in 2010 changed the name of the district and it has led to major protest by non-Dimasa tribes.
The IPF, which claims to represent non-Dimasas, have been demanding difurcation of the district.
