Barring Karanjia, normal life was disrupted in many places including the district headquarters town of Baripada, nearby sub-divisions like Rairangpur and Udala.
At least 88 JMM activists and supporters were arrested on the charge of creating disturbances while their leader Marandi continued to remain inside the jail since Novemver 23.
While all educational institutions and business establishments in Baripada were closed, government offices remained open, though no official business was conducted. The police removed road blockades on two national highways NH-18 and Nh-6.
