The apex students' body of the state called the bandh in support to the North East Students' Organisation's (NESO) bandh call against the "atrocities" committed towards the people of the region in various parts of the country.
The bandh was total in all the districts of the state as business establishments, educational institutions, central and state government offices remained closed, while all sort of private and commercial vehicles remained off the road.
No cases of law and order violation were reported from any parts of the state, police sources informed.
The AAPSU had instructed its federal units to spearhead and enforce the bandh in their respective jurisdiction. However, essential services were exempted from the purview of the bandh.
NESO has been demanding the Center to act tough against atrocities meted out to the people of the region and deportation of illegal immigrants.
