Normal life was

disrupted during a dawn-to-dusk bandh called by Congress in Odisha's Maoist-hit Malkangiri district today in protest against alleged atrocity by security forces on tribal people.

Offices, shops and business establishments remained closed as also schools and colleges, while traffic was off the roads, police sources said.

The bandh remained peaceful, the sources said.

Scheduled examinations in educational institutions were allowed to be held though students faced difficulty in reaching the test centres due to disruption in traffic.

Claiming that five tribals were missing in the district, two of them since 2008, Congress leaders demanded a CBI inquiry or a judicial probe into the matter.
