Press Trust of India Amritsar
A bandh was observed in the Amritsar city today on a call given by some Hindu organisations to protest against clashes at the Baltal base camp for Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the bandh, called by VHP and other organisations, activists held demonstrations in major areas of the holy city.

Most of the shops or business establishments in the city remained closed.

According to the police, no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.

At least 37 persons, including few security force personnel, were injured in clashes that broke out at the Baltal base camp on July 18 after a dispute between pony owners and those running community kitchens followed by the alleged high-handedness by CRPF personnel.
