While the Bodoland Demand Action Committee (BDAC) has called for a 36-hour bandh call demanding a separate "Bodoland" state, the All Assam Koch Rajbonshi Students Union (AKRASU) observed a day-long bandh calling a separate Kamtapur state.

The BDAC bandh ends tomorrow at five am.

Banks and financial as well as educational institutions remained closed while attendance in government office was "very thin", the police said.

In a stray incident in Chirang district, one motorbike was torched by bandh enforcers while some AKRASU picketeers were picked up by the police at Gossaigaon.

The bandh had its effect in the nearby districts of Dhubri and Bongaigaon, they said.
