Trinamool Congress leader Dinesh Trivedi was today replaced by the party as the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on Railways after his tenure came to an end.

"This is nothing new. After the tenure gets over the chairman of the standing committee changes. Dinesh Trivedi completed his term this year so it was decided that Sudip Bandopadhyay will be nominated by the party as the chairman of Railway committee. Trivedi will be given other responsibilities," a senior TMC leader said.

According to sources in the party, the TMC leadership is miffed with his statements made before the state assembly polls earlier this year, specially on the Narada sting.

Earlier in March, when the Narada sting footage, purportedly showing some high-profile leaders taking cash, came out in the open, Trivedi had caused embarrassment to his party by suggesting those shown in the footage should "sit at home till the time they come out clean" of the charges levelled against them.
