Bangkok-bound Indian passenger arrested at Kolkata airport

A Bangkok-bound Indian passenger was today arrested at the NSC Bose International Airport here for carrying foreign currencies beyond permissible limits.

Acting on a tip-off, the passenger Pankaj Kumar was intercepted by Air Intelligence Unit sleuths of the Customs during security check before he boarded the Thai Airways flight TG 314 for Bangkok early in the morning and seized the booty.

The currencies worth Rs 46,50,612 contained USD 22,800, Riyal 1,59,500, Pound 1,310 and Dirham 13,000, airport sources said.
