In wake of Dhaka attack, Bangladesh assures Indian tourists of proper security

Bangladesh government has assured prospective Indian travellers that security issues would be properly looked into following the recent terror attacks in that country.

"It is unfortunate that such attacks have taken place in Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has categorically stated the country will convert this grief into strength to fight these forces," Jyotirmoy Burman, joint secretary to the ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism of Bangladesh said at the 'Travel and Trade Fair' here today.

Burman said that tourists visiting the country should feel safe and secure as these were stray incidents which the Bangla government was determined to finish.
 
To attract Bengali-speaking tourists, Bangladesh government with the help of tour operators is planning to arrange a three-day programme to mark the occasion of February 21 International Mother Language Day.

The visit would start from February 20 and end on February 22 during which Indian tourists would be assisted to visit various places of interest in Bangladesh and also taste a variety of cuisines.

The Bangladesh government would make reservations by train and buses from the entry points of Kolkata, Siliguri, Agartala and Guwahati, he said adding many tourists could directly take flights from Delhi.
