Press Trust of India Kolkata
Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata Abida Islam today called on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, amid speculation that the two discussed the alleged link of a Trinamool Congress MP with the Jamaat-e-Islami-Bangladesh.

Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ahmed Hassan Imran is alleged to have provided money raised from the Saradha chit fund company to Jamaat-e-Islami-Bangladesh to destabilise the Awami League government in Bangladesh.

Islam, however, did not tell the waiting media about her talks with the chief minister. Neither did the chief minister say what transpired in her meeting with the Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner.
