After a gap of two years, Bangladesh government is once again organising a mela here to celebrate Vijay Diwas, commemorating its day of liberation after the war in 1971.

To be held at the Netaji Indoor stadium, the 'Bangladesh Bijoy Utsob' would run from December 15-19.

Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Zokey Ahad said they could not organise the festival for the last two years due to administrative issues.

"But, this year we are organising it in a very big way. We have got very good support from the West Bengal government. They have also taken responsibility of handling security at the venue," he told reporters here today.

Visitors at the festival would get the opportunity to savour a number of delicacies including sweets and biryani from the neighbouring country.

Cultural troupe would enthrall the audience with songs of Lalon Geeti, Nazrul Geeti and Rabindrasangeet besides new-age music.

A delegation of 'Mukti Jodha' (freedom fighters) from Bangladesh would be attending the festival where a selection of Bengali films would also be screened.
