Bangladeshi circus elephant returns

BSF sources said the animal entered into Indian territory through Akhaura Check post after fleeing from his owner, The New Star Circus on April 14 and walking through Agartala city it entered into the reserve forests of Tripura and the forest officials managed to catch it after a week long struggle.

It walked more than 100 km, officials said.

Forest officials handed over the pregnant elephant to BSF officers who in turn gave it to the officers of BGB yesterday, sources said.

A procession of Bangladeshi people along with three more elephants and the mahout (elephant keeper) came to Akhaura Check post to receive the elephant.
