Raigarh SP Anand Chhabda said today that Dr Sanjit Mitra (32), his second wife Nupur (23) and mother Savitridevi(62) were arrested from Navagaon following a complaint of harassment for dowry by his first wife, 25-year-old Aparna.
She said in the complaint that she came to know about a year after her marriage to Sanjit that he was a Bangladeshi citizen hailing from Khulla district of that country.
An inquiry conducted by the police revealed that the accused did not possess an Indian visa.
According to police, Sanjit and his family came to India illegally in 2004 and had moved to Chhattisgarh this year.
