Bangladeshi trawlers with 55 people apprehended

Two Bangladeshi trawlers with 55 men onboard have been apprehended by the Coast Guard, 63 nautical miles off Sagar Island for illegally entering Indian waters, a police official said today.

Superintendent of Police, South 24 Parganas district, Praveen Tripathy said the Bangladeshi trawlers 'Allahar Malik 2' and 'Anowara' were escorted by a Coast Guard ship to Sagar Island where the Bangladeshis were handed over to Marine police at Frazerganj yesterday.

The Bangladeshis will be produced at a Kakdwip court today.
