Two women, who were allegedly running a brothel house here, were today arrested and a Bangladeshi woman was rescued, police said.

The women were arrested under provisions of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and remanded in custody.

The Bangladeshi woman, who was questioned with the help of a translator, said she was a native of Dhaka, had three children and was working as a sex worker at Bangalore to bring them up after her husband left them.

Another sex worker brought her here from Bangalore 15 days ago. She was kept in the house here and not allowed to go out, and not paid any money or even proper food, she told the police.

She somehow managed to inform local people about her plight and a political activist then informed the police.

Officials said the woman has been lodged in a women's home here, adding, she would be sent back to Bangladesh in a day or two.
