Banihal town in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir today defied strike call given by the separatists and remained opened through the day and situation remained peaceful, after it observed shutdown for past several Fridays in protest against killing of HM commander Burhan Wani, officials said.
"This was the first Friday after past several Fridays that the town was open and there was no protest or strike," a police officer said.
All the markets across the town were open and vehicular traffic was also normal, he added.
"There was no protest or whatsoever after the Friday prayers as well and the day passed off peacefully," he said.
